Adiponectin, a Hormone That Helps

A hormone released from fat cells is linked to a lower risk of type 2 diabetes, researchers concluded. The hormone, adiponectin, fights inflammation and can make the body more receptive to insulin, the hormone that lowers blood glucose. The study found that people with higher levels of adiponectin in the blood had a proportionally lower chance of developing diabetes. But further study is needed to show whether raising adiponectin will fend off diabetes.
