Finding Balance

For older folks, any exercise program beats no program at all, but a workout that includes balance exercises will help reduce the risk of a nasty fall better than one that stresses walking, a study shows. Balance exercises involved standing on one foot or with feet close together and trying to move in a controlled manner, with as little help as possible from the hands. In general, more time exercising helps people avoid falls, according to the research.
