Of the many oral type 2 diabetes medications on the market, which is the best for heart health? In an analysis of 40 randomized clinical trials, metformin was associated with reduced cardiovascular mortality by 26 percent relative to other diabetes drugs and a placebo. None of the other meds had any significant positive or negative associations with heart risk.
