Half or less

For the first six months of the year, it costs me $30 for insulin; BUT after that I pay 100% ($277 for 3 vials). Figure that one out!
Probably adds up to half or less coverage over all. Same thing applies to my other name brand meds. Canada, here I come (however, insulin not available through my Canadian pharmacy). Seems strange that insulin has not been around long enough to warrant a generic counterpart.

Insurance and testing supplies

I have a problem with getting testing strips. They are not paid under my insurance plan and I can't afford testing strips along with the additional medication I need. My solution is that I buy testing strips only when there is extra money at the end of the month, which only ever couple of months or so.

My insurance pays for the medication but not testing strips.

Prescription help

Should try:
Partnership for prescription assistance 888-477-2669
Together Rx 800-444-4106
Local hospitals to see if you they have any programs in your local area.
And Walgreens has a prescription club, cost $20 to join, but if you get your doctor to write a prescription for the strips-a lot of the meters are covered...and its 9.99 for 1 month or 12.99 for 3 mths. Meter are cheap with coupons and such..maybe cheaper in the long run.
Hope this helps.

Part D Medicare - No Insulin coverage = $1000.00/month uncovered

Now that I am in the proverbial doughnut hole of part D Medicare; I am coerced to pay full retail for my insulin and all Diabetes supplies. I called Novo Nordisk (Novalog,Novalin), and was told that they do not assist Part D consumers!

Is there not a backup plan for people who cannot afford their Diabetes supplies and insulin once their Part D is not paying anymore. My costs are over $1100 soely on Diabetes concerns.

Can anyone suggest a way to get such items in the "DOUGHNUT HOLE"?

Thanks for reading this.

Do you think celebrities with diabetes create positive awareness

I do not think so that a celebrity will openly discuss his dieses in the public and people will love it. That will decrease his popularity. During our ccnp certifications class, one of our class fellows was in this disease and boys always avoid him
